POINGLY - So Sue Me.

How To Make POINGLY's So Sue Me.

What you will need:
White out or Liquid Paper
A black marker (preferably a Sharpie)
Tinfoil
A blank CD-R
A computer with a CD-R drive
An old CD that you don't want anymore

First, make sure you have all you materials. You don't want to get halfway through this whole experience and find out you'e out of tinfoil. Trust me, it sucks and fucks up he flow. Once you have all you materials, take the old CD you don't want anymore.

In this case, we have a CD from a band called "THE YEAH;" it was released in 2001. I think I may have enjoyed this CD back then, but I don't even remember what it sounds like these days. You might want to make sure the CD is worthless by checking at your local used CD store to see if you can sell it back to them. Indie bands on no-name labels are good pick because they (1) are often very shitty, (2) fit that "worthless" requirement, and (3) aren't likely to have a thick booklet--I will discuss this later. Now open up the case.

Take out the CD. You can do anything you want with it: keep it, toss it, whatever.

I decided to throw THE YEAH disc (self-titled, I might add) on my messy, messy floor. Your next step is to take out the CD booklet.

I don't know why I included a picture of that. You are a dumbass if you can't figure that out. Now examine the front booklet. If it's a dark color, take out your white-out. If it's a light color, take out your marker.

I decided red was a dark enough color, so I took out my white-out and completely covered the name of the band (THE YEAH). Since this album is self-titled, I had no album title to cover up, but that should be covered up too! (If it was a light colored album, we would use the marker and simply scribble out the name, or just write over it if that works).

If you used white-out, remember to let the white-out dry! Watch some TV, smoke some pot, or play some video games while it dries.

Once it is dry, open up the booklet and look inside. If you pick a major label band, this can be a real pain in the ass, because we are playing sort of a hunt and gather FBI style game and taking our BIG BLACK MARKER and editing out every NAME (personal or company), SONG TITLE and anything that looks like it could be an identification.

When you are done, it should look something like this:

Luckily, THE YEAH's booklet was a 4-panel with only a few blocks of text, so I was able to work through it rather quickly. Now flip over back to the cover. We are going to write the the band name and album title on the front.

Oops! The white-out wasn't quite dry when we wrote the "P!" It could've been a lot worse, completely fucking up our marker, but it was dry enough that it just sort of pealed a little as we wrote: "POINGLY So Sue Me."

Okay, so now that the booklet is done, let's crack open the tray case to get the tray card out. This should be fairly easy, but be careful not to break anything!

Once the traycard is removed, find the tracklisting.

Again, we have the choice of using white-out or the marker. After that "P" experience on the front, I decided to go straight for the sharpie. Basically, we are going to write the tracklisting over the current one. In case you need it:
01-Introduction
02-Jesus's Gang (Ted Stevens Mix)
03-When The Sun Shines
04-Compromise
05-You Were Beautiful
06-Faster (feat MC Ted Stevens)
07-Interlude
08-Justify My Love
09-The One
10-The Olympics Are Fucking Gay
11-Houston
12-Last

The sad thing here is that a white field would've made the tracklisting a whole lot easier to read had I put it on a white field. Oh, well.

Don't forget to put "www.poingly.com" somewhere and edit out any copyright notifications!

And write "POINGLY - So Sue Me." on the spine as well! -- THAT PERIOD AFTER ME IS A REQUIREMENT, BTW!

Now put the tray card back into the tray case and snap it all back into place.

I'm not going to tell you how to burn a CD, you should know this. Download the tracks from HERE and burn a CD. Preferably on a CD with a blank face. In this case, it's going to be white. Take your sharpie again and start writing.

Not surprisingly, we are going to write "POINGLY So Sue Me." on this disc. I include a number out of 300 (in this case 15/300) because it is the 15th disc I have made, and I plan on making 300. You can do your own numbering system, email me for a number, or don't number it at all.

Okay, now close up the jewel case and slide the booklet back in the front. Now take that white-out out again.

We're going to write "POINGLY" across the front of the jewel case in white-out (if you used a digipack, don't worry about this step). Pretty cool, eh? This can actually be fairly difficult with the thick white-out brush (specifically the G), but give it your best go. Again, you will have to wait for this to dry.

Next, take your marker and write "So Sue Me." along each letter of Poingly. (Notice they have the same number of letters?) The period goes along with the E on the Y.

Now, take your tinfoil. Make sure it is at least as wide as your CD case.

There is a shiny side and a matte side of tinfoil. I don't know why this is, but it seems to be the case on all tinfoils I have used. Put the CD face down on the matte side.

Now fold over the sides.

Flip the CD over so you have the a smooth shiny surface showing. Remember that white-out trick we did earlier on the jewel case? We repeat this on the tinfoil.

Viola! We are done! Don't forget to DONATE below!

Love,
Poingly
